Mobile Morgue
Built for Surge.
Designed for Dignity.
When a hospital morgue, medical examiner facility, coroner's office or regional fatality-management system reaches capacity, the problem cannot wait for permanent construction. The FORTS® Mobile Mortuary Unit provides rapidly deployable, refrigerated temporary morgue capacity for mass fatality incidents, hospital surge, disasters, pandemics, infrastructure failures and emergency response operations.
Built within a rugged 20-foot ISO container, each mobile morgue provides 12 individual body-tray positions, controlled refrigeration and a purpose-built interior designed to support dignified handling of the deceased.

Refrigeration Engineered For Demanding Conditions
Temperature control is one of the most important capabilities of a temporary morgue. The FORTS® Mobile Mortuary incorporates a Carrier 69NT40-541-300 marine-grade refrigeration system using R-134a refrigerant. The system is engineered to maintain interior temperatures below 36°F (2°C) in ambient temperatures up to 100°F, with an approximate cool-down time of 30–45 minutes to reach 36°F.
Electrical Requirements
3-phase 240 / 480 VAC, 60 Hz
A 60 kW super-quiet diesel generator is also available as an optional deployment component.
When Existing Morgue Capacity Isn’t Enough
Mass fatality incidents create an immediate infrastructure problem. Hospitals, medical examiners, coroners and emergency management agencies may suddenly need significantly more refrigerated decedent storage than their permanent facilities were designed to provide. Building additional permanent capacity isn't an emergency solution. FORTS® Logistics provides a different option:
Bring the capacity to the incident.
The FORTS® Mobile Morgue can be transported by land, sea or air and positioned where additional fatality-management capacity is required. The system is designed for rapid deployment and can be set up in approximately 20 minutes with three personnel, allowing agencies to establish temporary refrigerated mortuary capacity without waiting for conventional construction.
Mass fatality management isn't simply a refrigeration problem.
It requires an environment that supports security, temperature control, safe handling, identification procedures, infection prevention and respectful care of the deceased. The FORTS® Mobile Mortuary Unit is engineered specifically for this mission.
Each unit incorporates:
12-body tray capacity
304 stainless-steel modular racks
Three-tier racking along both interior walls
Full-length center aisle for gurney access
Marine-grade refrigeration
Digital temperature controller with alarm
Insulated construction
LED interior lighting
Non-slip flooring
Lockable exterior access points
Bacteriostatic interior surfaces
Insulated loading entrance
Anti-slip diamond-plate access ramp
